IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for (539) Pamina / TYC 1865-01349-1 event on 2009 Dec 19, 00:27 UT Visible from Russia, Europe, Caribbean, Central America Summary ------- On 2009 Dec 19 UT, the 54 km diameter asteroid (539) Pamina will occult a 10.9 mag star in the constellation Taurus for observers along a path across Russia, Europe, Caribbean, Central America. In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star will drop by 0.8 mag to 11.0 mag (the combined magnitude of the asteroid and the other component of the double star) for at most 4.8 seconds. This update is based on UNSO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Alice Monet, TMO astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Bill Owen, historical astrometry from the MPC files (via AstDys), and the following catalogs for the star position: UCAC.
