IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for (882) Swetlana / UCAC2 40809634 event on 2012 Oct 01, 04:48 UT Visible from Canada, USA Summary ------- On 2012 Oct 01 UT, the 45 km diameter asteroid (882) Swetlana will occult a 11.9 mag star in the constellation Taurus for observers along a path across Canada, USA. In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star will drop by 2.6 mag to 14.4 mag (the magnitude of the asteroid) for at most 14.1 seconds. This update is based on UNSO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Hugh Harris, historical astrometry from the MPC files (via AstDys), and the following catalogs for the star position: UCAC.
