IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for (2260) Neoptolemus / TYC 1964-00239-1 event on 2012 Nov 09, 21:10 UT Visible from China, India Summary ------- On 2012 Nov 09 UT, the 81 km diameter asteroid (2260) Neoptolemus will occult a 10.2 mag star in the constellation Leo for observers along a path across China, India. In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star will drop by 6.9 mag to 17.1 mag (the magnitude of the asteroid) for at most 4.9 seconds. This update is based on historical astrometry from the MPC files (via AstDys), and the following catalogs for the star position: UCAC.
