IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for (43) Ariadne / 2UCAC 40154271 event on 2012 Nov 28, 20:30 UT Visible from Japan, China, SW Asia, Africa Summary ------- On 2012 Nov 28 UT, the 66 km diameter asteroid (43) Ariadne will occult a 12.5 mag star in the constellation Taurus for observers along a path across Japan, China, SW Asia, Africa. In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star will drop by 0.4 mag to 11.6 mag (the magnitude of the asteroid) for at most 5.9 seconds. This update is based on UNSO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Alice Monet, TMO astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Bill Owen, historical astrometry from the MPC files (via AstDys), and the following catalogs for the star position: UCAC.
