IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for (13249) Marcallen / TYC 2397-00031-1 event on 2012 Dec 01, 15:51 UT Visible from Philippines, Indonesia Summary ------- On 2012 Dec 01 UT, the 20 km diameter asteroid (13249) Marcallen will occult a 10.2 mag star in the constellation Auriga for observers along a path across Philippines, Indonesia. In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star will drop by 4.4 mag to 14.6 mag (the magnitude of the asteroid) for at most 2.1 seconds. This update is based on UNSO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Alice Monet, historical astrometry from the MPC files (via AstDys), and the following catalogs for the star position: UCAC.
