IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for (2022) West / TYC 2425-00260-1 event on 2012 Dec 03, 05:00 UT Visible from Brazil, Argentina, Chile Summary ------- On 2012 Dec 03 UT, the 11 km diameter asteroid (2022) West will occult a 10.5 mag star in the constellation Auriga for observers along a path across Brazil, Argentina, Chile. In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star will drop by 5.0 mag to 15.5 mag (the magnitude of the asteroid) for at most 1.3 seconds. This update is based on UNSO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Alice Monet, historical astrometry from the MPC files (via AstDys), and the following catalogs for the star position: UCAC.
