IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for (704) Interamnia / TYC 2332-01685-1 event on 2012 Dec 09, 04:52 UT Visible from Caribbean, Central America Summary ------- On 2012 Dec 09 UT, the 357 km diameter asteroid (704) Interamnia will occult a 12.5 mag star in the constellation Triangulum for observers along a path across Caribbean, Central America. In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star will drop by 0.1 mag to 10.3 mag (the magnitude of the asteroid) for at most 33.1 seconds. This update is based on UNSO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Alice Monet, TMO astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Bill Owen, historical astrometry from the MPC files (via AstDys), and the following catalogs for the star position: UCAC.
