IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for (48) Doris / UCAC2 36608265 event on 2012 Dec 11, 00:27 UT Visible from Russia, Europe, SE Canada, NE USA Summary ------- On 2012 Dec 11 UT, the 200 km diameter asteroid (48) Doris will occult a 11.8 mag star in the constellation Orion for observers along a path across Russia, Europe, SE Canada, NE USA. In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star will drop by 0.5 mag to 11.1 mag (the magnitude of the asteroid) for at most 17.9 seconds. This update is based on UNSO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Alice Monet, TMO astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Bill Owen, historical astrometry from the MPC files (via AstDys), and the following catalogs for the star position: UCAC.
