IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for (556) Phyllis / TYC 1867-03115-1 event on 2020 Dec 29, 18:06 UT Visible from Russia, Europe, Africa Summary ------- On 2020 Dec 29 UT, the 37.1 km diameter asteroid (556) Phyllis will occult a 11.2 mag star in the constellation Taurus for observers along a path across Russia, Europe, Africa. In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star will drop by 1.25 mag to 12.04 mag (the magnitude of the asteroid) for at most 4.0 seconds. This update is based on UNSO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Hugh Harris, astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Bill Owen, astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by the IAU Minor Planet Center.
