IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for (245) Vera / UCAC4 593-036245 event on 2021 Jan 18, 00:01 UT Visible from Africa, Europe, SE USA Summary ------- On 2021 Jan 18 UT, the 73.6 km diameter asteroid (245) Vera will occult a 12.2 mag star in the constellation Gemini for observers along a path across Africa, Europe, SE USA. In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star will drop by 0.62 mag to 11.89 mag (the magnitude of the asteroid) for at most 6.9 seconds. This update is based on UNSO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Hugh Harris, astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Bill Owen, astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by the IAU Minor Planet Center.
